A mother in her seventh month opens the INPS website to check the Universal Allowance. In the Family Portal, she finds a new entry, "Services near me," activates the location, and sees the nurseries in her neighborhood appear on the map. Three dots less than a kilometer from home. Your nursery, which is six hundred meters away, is not there.
Starting from October 2026, this scene is possible. INPS has expanded the Family and Parenting Portal and has put online the geolocation of educational services for children up to three years old. In this article, we will see what the portal contains, where the data on nurseries comes from, who must communicate it, and what a coordinator or manager should do now.
What is the Family and Parenting Portal
The portal, created by INPS with the Department for Family Policies, was launched in March 2026. At the beginning of October, it was expanded: according to the Institute, it collects in one place about 40 INPS services and over 300 links to services from other administrations, from health to education to civil registry.
The main sections are four:
- Services near me: the map with authorized nurseries, micro-nurseries, and other educational services for 0-3 years, along with counseling centers, vaccination centers, and health facilities.
- Child in growth: access to welfare benefits and active calls for some INPS management.
- National map of Family Centers: searchable by region and province.
- Statistical Observatories: data on the Universal Allowance, leave, Nursery Bonus, Newborn Bonus, and Mother Bonus.
For families, it is a unique entry point to measures that were previously scattered. For those managing a 0-3 service, the important part is the first one: the map.
The nursery map: where the data comes from
The nurseries that appear in "Services near me" are not manually entered by INPS, nor are they reported by the facilities. They come from the Nursery Agenda, the database that the Institute uses to process applications for contributions for fees.
Since July 1, 2026, the law requires local authorities to communicate to INPS the tax code and other identifying data of public and private facilities authorized to provide educational services for up to 36 months. This rule was introduced by decree-law 62/2026, which added paragraph 355-bis to article 1 of law 232/2016. The operational instructions are in the INPS circular no. 93 of September 9, 2026.
For each facility, the Agenda collects the managing entity, the operational headquarters, the details of the authorization title, the type of service (nursery, micro-nursery, spring section, play space, service in a home context), and the management mode: public, private, concession, or contract.
Who must do what, and by when
The obligation lies with the competent local authority: usually the Municipality, but according to regional regulations, it can be a Union of municipalities, a territorial area, or a consortium. The facility does not need to send anything to INPS.
- First communication: by September 1, 2026. Entities that have not yet done so must comply according to the circular.
- Educational year 2026/27: the entity fills out an Excel file and sends it to the regional INPS Directorate, which uploads the data.
- From 2027/28: entries and changes go through the National Digital Data Platform (PDND).
- Updates: every year by September 1. New authorizations, changes of manager, suspensions, and closures must be communicated promptly.
The data already provided for the 2026 contribution remains valid in subsequent years, if nothing has changed and the authorization title is still valid.
Why it concerns you even if you have nothing to communicate
There are two practical reasons.
The first is visibility. A family looking for a nursery increasingly starts from a map. If your facility does not appear on the portal, or appears with an old address or with the previous manager, you risk not being among the options that family considers. We discussed this in How to increase enrollments at your nursery: the first impression today is formed online.
The second is the contribution for fees. INPS uses the Agenda to automate checks on facilities: a correctly registered facility makes the processing of applications from your families smoother. The demographic data of the facilities is communicated by the authority; however, families still need to document the payment of fees.
What to do this week
- Search for your facility in the Family Portal, in the "Services near me" section, by province or using geolocation. Check the name, address, and type.
- If it is missing or incorrect, write to the educational services office of the authority that issued the authorization. Indicate the tax code of the manager, operational headquarters, and details of the authorization title: these are the data that the authority must transmit.
- If you manage multiple locations, check each one: the Agenda operates by operational headquarters. If you are a cooperative managing a municipal nursery under contract, ensure that the correct manager is indicated.
- Mark September 1 on your calendar: any changes for the year (new location, change of manager, increase in authorized places) must be communicated to the authority in a timely manner.
Consider that the data on the map is updated progressively: an absence today may depend on loading times. An email to the authority costs little and clarifies the situation immediately.
When the family finds you: make the next step easy
The map brings the family to your name. From there on, it matters how easy it is to request information and enroll. With Easy.School, each branch has its link to online registrations, to put on the website or in the Google profile of the facility: the family fills out the pre-registration and you find it organized, along with other pending requests, as explained in Waiting lists: how to manage them without losing families.
Also, for the contribution on fees, the facility's work is in the payment documents. Receipts and invoices generated with the child's and parent's data already filled in, and accessible by families in the Easy Family app, avoid requests like "can you resend me the receipt from March?" just when they need to upload it.
In summary
The INPS Family Portal now shows families the authorized nurseries near their home. The data comes from the Nursery Agenda and is communicated by local authorities, not the facilities, with annual updates by September 1. Check that your facility is listed and that the data is correct, and report any errors or changes to the authority.
